The Artistic Curmudgeon or The Grumpy Old Painter

I am an oil painter, who depicts landscapes and seascapes in a photorealistic style. This means that I will never be rich (until I am dead, that is, but I'm in no rush). I am also a Shetland Islander, which explains my interest in all things nautical, and the fishing industry in particular. My other interests include classical music and creative writing.

About Me

My photo
The Artistic Curmudgeon
Lerwick, Shetland, United Kingdom
"Colour is my day-long obsession, joy and torment." Claude Monet's words reflect my own feelings, and those of struggling painters the world over. Add to those the further elements of wind direction and strength, as well as the important considerations of light source and general composition, and you have the full set of conundra which confront the seascape artist as he begins a new work. Bring it on! And, as Dali so succinctly put it, "Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it."
